Sunset Ocean Kayak – 1770 Liquid Adventures

The Fun Fit Adventure team were back in Kayaks today, but this time on the ocean with 1770 Liquid Adventures. We have fallen in love with 1770 & Agnes Water, it’s such an incredible little place with so much to do and exploring this area by Kayak is a must with the sunset tour being the perfect way to do it.
We arrived at the beach just before 3pm on a glorious sunny day and were given a fun little paddling lesson from our guide Janina as well as deciding the important thing, who’s in the back and who’s going in the front of the tandem kayaks they provide. Janina has lived in the area for 11 years and so is a wealth of knowledge about the area and the marine life and is also a lot of fun to kayak with.
With Rich jumping in the back as the power house, we hit the water and headed to one of the local boats moored up to meet Snickers the friendly boat cat, he loves his daily cuddles and was waiting on deck to meet us.
We then paddled to the sandbank and took a quick stop to take in the views of Captain Cooks landing before travelling along the headland riding the rolling waves to the Round Hill lookout.
Here we drifted out just before the breakers looking for turtles and dolphins. Sadly, the dolphins were not out to play but a turtle was and it was fantastic to see its head keep popping out of the water. There is also a big old turtle called Boris who has been in these water for years and is a friend of all the locals. Our guide told us that the chance of seeing the dolphins is about 65% so if you book on this tour let us know if you spotted one! We rode the small surf which was great fun, back to perfect glassy waters which the sun reflects off, creating beautiful red, orange and yellow reflections and landed on a secluded beach for a glass of wine and homemade cake. This was perfect as it was Richard’s Birthday and the cake was amazing. We do judge tours by the quality of the cake and this one got 10/10, made with seasonal ingredients from Janina’s garden and a secret recipe of her mother in-law.
After watching the start of the sunset, it was time to jump back in the kayaks for the final leg of the tour hugging the coastline as we watched the stunning bright orange sunset, with the rainbow lorikeets outing on a stunning show. We rounded off our day with takeout fish and chips and a bottle of bubbles.
We loved this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area, Janina took pictures throughout the trip which are then put on their Facebook page the next morning, which is a lovely touch and means you don’t need to get your iphone or camera wet. [We have used some of this pictures in our trio report…thanks]
